OUR MISSION STATEMENT

We believe

that music is an international language that creates bonds of friendship amongst the people of the world.

We believe

that folkloric music best expresses the values, the spirit and the soul of a particular race or culture.

We believe

that by preserving, teaching, and helping youth to appreciate the history, the art and music of our ancestors, we will help them to have a positive image of our Indian and Hispanic cultural heritage.

We believe

that learning, playing and sharing Mariachi Music can make a difference in the life of a child.

We believe

that the opportunity to learn and experience Mariachi Music should be open to all youngsters of all ethnic backgrounds.

OUR HISTORY

Rhythmo began putting instruments of hope into the hands of our children in 1996. It was the brainchild of our founder Gabriel Zavala

Gabriel Zavala hails from Acambaro, Guanajuato Mexico. Maestro, as he is known to his students, emigrated to the USA in 1964. A self-taught musician, Maestro formed Los Siete Hermanos Zavala in Anaheim, Ca. Members included all seven brothers. They enjoyed local celebrity status for about 10 years.

Maestro’s love of Mariachi music eventually lead him to form a non profit organization called: RHYTHMO MARIACHI ACADEMY.  For over 20 years Maestro has taught thousands of children the ancient art of Mariachi music. Several of Rhythmo’s alumni are now playing in professional groups. The 501 c3 non profit is also responsible for a handful of splinter mariachi programs in the greater orange county area.

Sadly, Maestro Gabriel Zavala passed away on February 26, 2021 due to complications of COVID-19

His Sons, Oliver and Gabriel jr. along with their mother Oralia are resolved to carrying-on Maestro’s legacy and continue his mission.

OUR BUILDING

Rhythmo has called home to many places, from the now defunct George Washington center, to the Friendly center in Orange,  CA. There were times when Rhythmo Classes gathered at Boysen park (Airplane Park)

RHYTHMO is happy to call 841 N. Harbor blvd our new home.  This mid-century building is seated just minutes from Anaheim’s packing house and City parks.

Rhythmo has recently added a fenced-in patio for outdoor classes and coffee shop fundraising.

We are currently working on a retail store area located in the building’s lobby.

Keep an eye out for several productions featuring our most talented students at one of our friday night recitals.

RETAIL STORE

COMING SOON!   We are currently working on a retail section of our lobby to offer students accessories such as: strings, books, valve oil, rosin etc…
